Just spent the first Friday nite with the new family at home and watched “The Last Waltz” which documented the final appearance of The Band. I have always been a big fan of The Band, in particular Levon Helm.
The aspect I thought was really cool and doesn’t exist today, was the element of community with all of the acts. Eric Clapton, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, and Neil Young all hanging out with The Band. That kind of stuff never happens today, and might explain why the best music came from the mid 60’s to mid 70’s where all of these extraordinary artists hung out and constantly pushed each other to create even better music. They each wanted to impress their friends. And the music reflected it. Great stuff.
Speaking of Dylan, here’s a pic of Dylan looking over Dylan.
