Coremetrics acquires IBM’s SurfAid

Well the times they are a changing…

So now the major players in web analytics are down to 4…Coremetrics, Omniture, WebSideStory, and WebTrends.

Not sure why Coremetrics would buy SurfAid, as their product is actually a little farther along from a functionality standpoint. IBM, in my mind, is basically saying that Surfaid is not where they wanted the tool to be at this stage of the game, and couldn’t compete with the Omniture and WebSideStory’s of the world. So again, why would Coremetrics buy it?
